ABSTRACT

This study aims to improve the efficiency of renewable energy systems through an advanced Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) strategy. A hybrid control combining the Perturb & Observe (P&O) algorithm and the Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Control (STC) technique was developed to regulate the Boost converter. The approach focuses on enhancing DC-DC conversion efficiency and improving the quality of the DC-AC power signal injected into the grid. Simulations showed a decrease in voltage ripples, an increase in dynamic response speed, and a reduction in losses compared to conventional control. The proposed solution ensures system stability under different conditions, improves smart grid efficiency, reduces signal distortions, and speeds up high-precision optimal monitoring. By lowering the total voltage ripple (VR) to 18.4%, the super-twisting sliding mode algorithm has also demonstrated its capacity to reduce vibrations and maintain system stability under a variety of radiation conditions, improving the smart grid’s dependability and reducing thermal loss by 12%. The aim of this study is to maximize the performance of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) with the fewest possible sensors. Additionally, it fills important gaps in traditional solar control systems while improving tracking accuracy, dynamic stability, and grid power quality.
